We are excited to offer a learning and discovery experience designed specifically for homeschool students in 4k-12th Grades!
These enjoyable and educational classes include live animal demonstrations, interactive discussions, hands-on nature exploration, and guided tours of the Zoo*. Our program is designed to supplement your home curriculum by creating connections with science and the natural world in an engaging and interactive environment.
The mission of the Birmingham Zoo is to Inspire Passion to Conserve the Natural World. We believe in providing all students with a unique learning experience to enhance their love of nature, animals, conservation and stewardship. Each class expands upon another and information will be incorporated as we introduce new topics. While our classes focus primarily on concepts from life science, ecology and environmental science, we will also incorporate math, engineering, language arts, social studies, art and Nature Play as appropriate. In each class, we promote 21st Century Skills, including critical thinking, collaboration and teamwork, creativity, imagination and problem solving.
Registration is for a full year of monthly classes from September to April. All classes are based on grade appropriate information and guided by the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills as set forth by the Alabama State Department of Education.
